Nature Study (1st-3rd) (3rd period)

The goal of nature study is for it to be an organic learning environment. We will focus on different units study, (trees, flowers & plants, weather, etc.) but ultimately each week we will spend our time on a nature walk observing what is around us.  After our observations, we will spend time in class documenting what we discovered.  The children will choose what they want to write and/or draw in their journal.  It will reflect their own learning process.  Some weeks we will have an activity or a book to read to expand our understanding.  At home each week there will be reading assignments from our text, The Storybook of Science.  It is a living book on science and it will be fun for the kids (and for you as well!).
