Health – 4th Period Wednesday (10th-12th) – Fall Semester

Note: If you also need Economics in the spring, add that class separately.

This high school health and nutrition curriculum explores the physical, social, mental, and spiritual concepts that are needed for a healthy lifestyle. Exploring Creation with Health and Nutrition covers what maturing students need to know to help them make the best choices they can for themselves as they become young adults. Health is about stewardship: managing what you have as well as you can.

Some topics will include:

-macro & micronutrients
-infection & disease
-mental & emotional health
-physical fitness
-cardiovascular system

Course Expectations:
Students will complete reading and questions prior to class. Debates and dialogue will be fun and engaging. Our aim is to process and talk through the significance of this material in class. There are many important cultural topics addressed in this curriculum and we will aim to center our discussion on what God’s word says, while also identifying some cultural perspectives and how to navigate them. Class participation is a large part of the grade for this class. We will not be using all the activities in the workbook. Students can expect an occasional project but since this is an elective class, the homework expectation will be less. Some of the topics are sensitive and parents should consider the maturity of the student and their comfort level with this before registering. Please let us know if you have questions about the course and content.
