French 1 (9th+)

Course description: Bienvenue! Begin your formal study of the beautiful French language at Arrow next year.  French I will be offered on Wednesdays & Fridays. (students come BOTH days) Over the course of 30 weeks we will unlock the mystery of French pronunciation, build a strong and useful working vocabulary (nouns, verbs, adjectives, expressions, etc.) and a solid introduction to French grammar.  In class we will work on all aspects of language learning:  speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Class time:  On Wednesdays we will learn the vocabulary and grammar for the week’s lesson. Most Wednesdays will begin with a brief quiz on the previous week’s lesson, and we will also emphasize pronunciation, speaking and listening through class exercises and dialogues.

On Fridays we will have activities to reinforce the vocabulary and grammar through songs, games, drawing, labeling etc. Speaking and listening will be developed through audio activities from Native French speakers, and practice conversations.  The other part of Friday classes will be “French Club Fridays” which will feature French culture activities such as France Facts, French Noel celebration, “France Minute” and of course French food.
