English 2: Comp + American Lit – 2nd Pd Wed (9th-10th)


English 2:  Comp + American Lit

Course Description:  A high school study of American literature (prose, poetry, and drama) from 1750 to present day. Your student will learn about the classic books and writers that make up the American literary canon and their contexts – learning from a strong Biblical worldview! Provides thorough college-prep coverage of literature and literary analysis. Students will read 3-5 novels each semester and write 3 papers per semester.

Expectations:  Class requires reading & vocabulary review that will likely take most families 45 minutes/4 days a week to complete at home.
Students will be required to write approximately 3 papers per semester.

Prerequisites:  English 8/9

Grade Level: 8th-11th (there are a few seats in this section for 11th graders who have a schedule conflict with Eng 3)
