Course Description:
Biology 5th edition will show your student God’s power and glory in creation as he learns about cellular biology, genetics, taxonomy, microbiology, botany, zoology, and human anatomy. When studying topics such as creation and evolution, human cloning, and stem cell research, students are pointed to Scripture as the ultimate authority and are encouraged to develop a Biblical perspective about these topics.Students who take and understand this course will be well-prepared for a university biology course. They will dip their toe in field work. They will consider a scientist’s worldview and practice deep thinking as they observe, record, and analyze their data. This class also provides an excellent opportunity for students to develop and practice effective study skills.A note about the textbook change:
This text has been selected since it better fits our developmental scope and sequence. With shorter more visually organized chapters, students will have time to work on their note taking skills from a textbook in addition to in-class notes. The relevant labs and case studies connect scientific thinking and course content with real-world activities that help develop the skills and mindset of a biologist. This intentional progression in study skills is designed to aid students in future upper level science courses.
