Course Description: Middle School Art is designed for art-loving students who would like to strengthen their art skills while expanding their knowledge of art history, criticism, and aesthetics. The course will focus on sketch, watercolor, and acrylic instruction but will also cover upper-level art concepts such as color theory and the art elements and principles of design. This is an exciting course designed to immerse students in a classical art experience.

Curriculum: Students are required to purchase a kit similar to the one we had this year. Returning students will be able to reuse theirs if it is in good shape. The kit is around $25.
Course Expectations: Light Homework-1 hour per week. Students will be expected to participate in class discussions, critiques, presentations, and projects. Students will be asked to give 2 small presentations throughout the school year, 1 per semester. No other homework will be assigned in this class; however, students are encouraged to practice drawing and painting in their free time at home. The course syllabus will provide additional resources that are optional and may be completed by the student throughout the week to support the classroom lesson.
